Ashi's doubt

Description

I've been watching the new season of Samurai Jack, and I've been seeing a lot of people 'shipping' Jack with the leader of the 'Daughters of Aku', known as Ashi.

After watching the three episodes, I picked up some things that distance Ashi from the others. While all seven girls were trained from birth and indoctrinated to be assassins with the sole purpose to kill Jack, there were some things that showed me that there was more than a killer under that mask:
1- During her training as a youth, she showed some moments of individualism when she made a different move to the training 'kata', which the High Priestess believed was a mistake;
2- While facing one of the matrons, her curiosity led her to follow a ray of sunlight to a crack in the wall, shying away from the others to look at the outside world;
3- While she showed little sympathy when faced with the death of one of their own, she seemed overly confused and her tone of voice reflected both curiosity and lack of understanding when seeing a moment of love.

She may be an assassin, but a part of me wants to believe that, deep down, there's a girl who just wants to break free and be herself.

(Each of the quotes on both sides of the picture are from the show, with the High Priestess' words on the left, and Ashi's own words on the right.)
